Description

The Testo 350 MARITIME is a specialist portable emission analyser built for diesel ship engines, providing accurate readings for critical exhaust gases like O₂, CO, and NOₓ. This isn't just another analyser; it's engineered to meet the stringent demands of maritime conditions and regulatory compliance.

Having worked on a few marine systems, I know how brutal the environment can be, so having gear that's actually built for the salt and vibration makes a real difference to its lifespan and reliability. It's designed to streamline on-board verification surveys and NOx compliance checks, saving time and hassle compared to older, more complex methods.

Best For

  • Marine engineers and crew conducting emission surveys on diesel ship engines.
  • Compliance officers verifying MARPOL Annex VI and NOₓ Technical Code requirements.
  • Maintenance teams needing quick, accurate exhaust gas analysis.

Compatibility

The Testo 350 MARITIME is specifically engineered and type-approved for emission measurement on marine diesel engines. It measures gaseous exhaust gas concentrations of NO, NO₂, SO₂, CO, CO₂-(IR), and O₂. This analyser is optimised for marine fuels and meets the requirements for on-board verification surveys in accordance with the NOₓ Technical Code 2008 and MARPOL Annex VI compliance checks.

If you're running a different model or need other sensors (e.g., total hydrocarbons), this specific maritime-approved configuration may not be suitable. For broader applications, consider the standard Testo 350 emission analyser which offers more sensor customisation.

Features

  • Regulatory Approved: World's first portable analyser approved for MARPOL Annex VI and the NOₓ Technical Code.
  • Multi-Gas Measurement: Accurately reads O₂, CO, NOₓ (NO, NO₂), SO₂, and CO₂-(IR) concentrations.
  • Fuel Sulphur Content: Determines fuel sulphur content via SO₂/CO₂ ratio, as per MEPC 184 (59).
  • Robust Marine Design: Housed in a durable protective case with trolley function, built for harsh marine environments.
  • Certified Quality: Comes with DNV, NK, MED (Module B & D) certificates, ensuring reliable performance at sea.
  • Integrated Data Management: Features Bluetooth®, USB, and IR interfaces for easy data transfer and documentation.

Using It on the Job

  1. Pre-Check: Ensure the analyser unit and control unit are charged and all probes/hoses are securely connected and free from damage.
  2. Probe Insertion: Carefully insert the flue gas probe into the exhaust stack, ensuring proper immersion depth for accurate sampling (up to 335 mm immersion).
  3. Start Measurement: Power on the control unit and follow the on-screen prompts to initiate the measurement sequence for O₂, CO, NOₓ, SO₂, and CO₂.
  4. Monitor Readings: Observe real-time readings, ensuring they stabilise. The analyser handles gas conditioning and range extension for reliable data capture.
  5. Document Results: Use the integrated data memory, USB, Bluetooth®, or the included fast printer to record and document all emission data for compliance and reporting.
  6. Post-Measurement: Carefully remove the probe, allow it to cool, and clean all components as per the instruction manual for longevity.

Limitations & Safety Notes

  • This device is specifically type-approved for marine requirements; it cannot be configured with other sensors for different testing scenarios (e.g., total hydrocarbons).
  • Always ensure engine safety protocols are followed when working with exhaust systems, including proper ventilation and avoiding contact with hot surfaces.
  • Refer to the instruction manual for detailed operational limits, maintenance procedures, and specific safety guidance.
  • The lead time for this product can be up to 6 weeks as it's manufactured to order, and all sales are final.

Tradie Pro Tip

Before heading out to a job on the water, always double-check your calibration gas cylinders and make sure the analyser's battery is fully charged. There's nothing worse than getting halfway through a survey offshore and realising you're running on empty or can't verify accuracy.

Pair With

For comprehensive engine diagnostics, consider pairing this analyser with a robust engine vibration meter and a high-temperature infrared thermometer to monitor other critical parameters. Check out our range of Testo measuring instruments for related gear.
